Wedding Player 2.1.5: Trim Every Track to the Second

Wedding Player 2.1.5 went live on the App Store yesterday. The headline change in this cycle is the Trim & Fade editor: every track in your ceremony, edited to the second, on your iPhone, with no computer, no DJ, and no audio-engineering background required.

If you’ve ever tried to pick music for your own ceremony, you’ll know why that’s a bigger deal than it sounds.

The problem nobody warns you about

Recorded songs are not built for weddings.

The track you love has a 28-second intro. Your processional walk takes 45 seconds. The bridal party still hasn’t reached the front when the first verse kicks in. Or the song you’ve picked for the recessional is gorgeous for two minutes, then drifts into a long instrumental outro that empties the room while you’re still hugging your mum.

Songs are mixed for radios and playlists. Ceremonies run on people walking, sitting, signing, and kissing. Those two things don’t line up.

For decades, the way to fix this was one of three options:

  1. Hire a DJ and pay them to do it for you. £500 and up. They have the software, the experience, and the booth on the day.
  2. Edit the files yourself in something like GarageBand, Audacity, or a desktop audio editor. Free, but it’s a Saturday-afternoon rabbit hole and you need a computer, plus a way to get the file back onto whatever’s going to play it on the day.
  3. Live with it. Use the version that comes off Apple Music or Spotify, hit pause when the moment passes, and hope the room doesn’t notice.

Most couples end up at option 3.

What Trim & Fade actually does

Inside Wedding Player, every track on your ceremony timeline (Apple Music on iPhone and iPad, Wedding Player Originals, or your own audio files) can be trimmed and faded directly in the app.

You can:

  • Set an in-point: skip the long intro and start where the emotional payoff begins.
  • Set an out-point: stop the track exactly when you want it to stop, not when the artist decided the song was over.
  • Add a fade-in at the beginning so the track doesn’t slam in.
  • Add a fade-out at the end so the room glides into silence rather than getting cut off mid-phrase.
  • Preview the trimmed clip as many times as you like, with a live countdown in every preview button so you can see how much is left.

Wedding Player has always faded tracks in and out across each ceremony moment via the CrossFade toggle: the previous track dips as the next rises so transitions never slam. What’s new is the point of control. Instead of the fade happening automatically at the start and end of the track, you now set exactly where it begins and ends, paired with your in and out points. The crossfade between moments still works the same way; the Trim editor adds per-track precision on top of it.

The trimmed and faded version is what plays on the day. The original Apple Music track on your device is untouched. Wedding Player does the editing live, every time, from the in-point you set.

That last detail is the one most people miss. There’s nothing to export, nothing to drag back into the Music app, nothing to re-download if the song refreshes. You set the trim once and it’s part of your ceremony forever.

Why this matters

Trim & Fade is the answer to the question nobody told you you’d have to ask.

If you’re doing your own ceremony music, which is most couples buying Wedding Player, this is the feature. It’s the difference between “I built my own ceremony playlist” and “my ceremony playlist is exactly what I imagined”. You don’t need a laptop, you don’t need audio software, you don’t need to know what a fade curve is. You tap two markers and a preview button.

The song starts where you want it. It ends where you want it. The room exhales at the right moment. That’s the whole point.

How to try it

Download Wedding Player on iPhone or iPad. Free to try, demo mode works without buying anything, full access is £7.99 once for couples (no subscription).

Add any track to a ceremony moment, then tap the track row and choose Trim & Fade. Set your points, preview, save. That’s it.

If you’re a wedding professional running multiple ceremonies, the Wedding Professional Licence (£79.99/year) gives you unlimited events with a clean reset between couples.

2.1.5 is available now. Update from the App Store, or download Wedding Player for the first time, and the Trim & Fade editor is ready on every track you add to your ceremony.
